Flamsteed viewing session with the Great Equatorial Telescope at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
Bookings are restricted to members only. Depending on numbers, we may be able to accommodate guests but we won’t know until much nearer the date.
These Flamsteed sessions are free to members but places are limited and advance booking is essential. If you would like a place, please contact us as soon as possible.
We plan to observe the Pleiades and Messier 35 (open cluster in Gemini). Use of the telescope is of course weather-permitting. If we are unable to observe we will have a briefing about the scope or go into the Peter Harrison Planetarium for a ‘sky tonight’ review (Planetarium only available until 8pm for this session). There will not be any ‘go/no-go’ messages.
Full directions and access instructions to enter and leave Greenwich Park after it closes will be issued nearer the date. There will be access to the park for cars, and a shuttle bus for pedestrians, from St Mary’s Gate in Greenwich (junction Nevada St & King William Walk). Note there will be access only until 7:30pm, and it will not be possible to leave until 8:30pm except in an emergency.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO MEMBERS OF THE FLAMSTEED ASTRONOMY SOCIETY ONLY.
Please do not book a place on this event if you are not a member of the society. Your booking will be cancelled if your name does not appear on our membership database.
