The world is uniting in order to build one of the largest and most ambitious scientific facilities that has ever existed. Consisting of two telescopes in Australia and South Africa, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) will answer fundamental questions related to the nature of the Universe and our place within it. From spinning neutron stars to black holes at the edge of the Universe, the SKA will challenge the theories put forward by Einstein. Jeff Wagg will describe the status of the ongoing SKA design work and present an overview of some of the questions that the SKA will help to answer.
Jeff is an astronomer at the Square Kilometre Array Organisation in Jodrell Bank, UK. Originally from Canada, he studied astronomy in Victoria, Puebla, Mexico and Boston, USA. He has worked at observatories in Hawaii, New Mexico and in the North of Chile. Outside of the office, he enjoys scuba diving, hiking and surfing.
