Professor Louise Harra is professor of solar physics at UCL Mullard Space Science Laboratory. Her main areas of research are solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and solar wind formation. She is UK PI for the EIS instrument on the Japan/US/UK space mission, Hinode which was launched successfully on 22nd September 2006. She is also co-PI on the EUV Imager (EUI) onboard the ESA Solar Orbiter mission.

Louise is honorary professor of the Solar Magnetism and Activity Group at the National Astronomical Observatories in Beijing and a partner in UCL’s Centre for Space Medicine , which aims to make use of technological and analytical techniques from space and apply them to areas of medicine.
