Solar Observing at the Royal Observatory Greenwich – UPDATE

July 9, 2014 @ 11:30 am - 4:00 pm

Sunspots 01.10.11

The Sun

UPDATE: 9/7/2014 8am:

The threat of rain seems to have receded, at least during the daytime… so we will go ahead with our solar observing event at the ROG today (Wednesday 9 July).

Cloud moving in from the east suggests that we are unlikely to see much of the Sun. However, we are going ahead mainly to check the equipment, and will treat the event more like a training session.

Volunteers are most welcome to come along, but it is unlikely that much in the way of solar viewing will take place. If you need to drop out, then there is no problem.

Solar Observing at the Royal Observatory Greenwich

We will be running a solar observing session at the Royal Observatory Greenwich on Wednesday 9 July from 11.30am to around 4pm. This session is open to all. We will be setting up at our usual location by the Altazimuth Building at the Royal Observatory.

As with all observing events, this session is weather permitting and a ‘go/no-go’ message will be posted on this website on the morning of the event.

A map of the location can be found here.
