Martin and Jane have very kindly offered to run a viewing session from their observatory on Tuesday 24 February.
For the benefit of newer members, Martin’s observatory (a shed, but not as most of us know sheds) is very well equipped including a permanently mounted 14-inch SCT and a smaller refractor with CCD camera. Martin himself is a very knowledgeable observer, who can not only show people round the lollipops of the sky with his own kit, but also help anyone struggling to master their own. The skies in darkest Kent really are a treat on a clear night and make the journey well worthwhile. It is also quicker to get there than you might think from the map – allow 50 minutes from the start of the M20. It is not practical to get there by public transport so we arrange car sharing where possible.
We put a limit of six attendees, to allow everyone a reasonable time at the eyepiece, so you do need to reserve a place in advance.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO MEMBERS OF THE FLAMSTEED ASTRONOMY SOCIETY ONLY.
Please do not book a place on this event if you are not a member of the society. Your booking will be cancelled if your name does not appear on our membership database.
