THIS EVENT IS CONFIRMED ON
On Monday 20 April from 8pm, we will be running a practical astrophotography session on Blackheath (at our usual location, North of Talbot Place). All are welcome to participate.
We will be using DSLRs (or Compact System Cameras) to take photographs of the night sky.
The session is intended give people a chance to set up equipment whilst it is still light. Once the Sun sets, you can start practising with taking photos. Venus and the Pleiades are very close together at the moment, so this could prove to be an excellent photo opportunity.
Obviously, it doesn’t get properly dark until after 10pm, but this is more about giving you the opportunity to set up your camera in the right way, with enough light around so that you can see what you’re doing! We’re not looking at producing great pictures at this stage, but hopefully the session will give you the practical experience so that you can go out and practise astrophotography in the future.
The plan is to meet on Blackheath, just north of Talbot Place at 8pm. Talbot Place is a right turn off Goffers Road as you head towards Shooters Hill Road or the first left after the Tea Hut. Talbot Place is a cul-de-sac, where free parking is available from 6.30pm.
