THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
We will be holding a History Group meeting on Tuesday October 15th starting at 6.45pm at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park.
Rory McEvoy, Curator of Horology at the ROG, has kindly offered to come along and talk to us about George Graham FRS. Graham was the leading clock and instrument maker in the late 17th / early 18th century, the leading maker in London and arguably, the world, at that time. Graham had a particularly productive relationship with the second Astronomer Royal Edmund Halley, and provided many of the Observatory’s key instruments and clocks as a result. Graham was also, with Halley, patron and mentor of John ‘Longitude’ Harrison. Rory has done extensive research on George Graham and will explore his life and work and look particularly at his links with the Observatory.
If you plan to attend please let us know by contacting us . We will be using the Planetarium Foyer at the ROG so there should be ample space for everyone who wants to come along but we need to keep track of numbers.
