Photographing the Universe by Dr Marek Kukula and Flamsteed AGM

Dr Marek KukulaDr Marek Kukula will be well known to Flamsteed members as the Public Astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, where he has been in post for the past 5 years.

He graduated in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Manchester in 1990 and in 1994 was awarded a PhD in Radio Astronomy from the same university with a thesis on The Radio Properties of Seyfert Nuclei, based on research carried out at Jodrell Bank Observatory. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Astronomy (based at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh) and the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. This was followed by a PPARC Advanced Fellowship held at the University of Edinburgh.

Marek was co-curator of the critically acclaimed and hugely successful “Visions of the Universe” exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. In this lecture, Marek will be talking about “Photographing the Universe”.

Marek’s talk will be preceded by the 14th Annual General Meeting of the Flamsteed Astronomy Society.
