THIS EVENT IS CONFIRMED ON
We are planning a short notice event to view Comet Lovejoy this Saturday at a dark sky location. Chris (famous for his Sky this Month presentations) has very kindly offered us the chance to borrow his personal bit of darkness in Kent together with his spacious patio to view the Comet.
Comet Lovejoy will be due south just ahead of the constellation Orion around 8pm and quite high in the sky this weekend. The Moon will be out of the way until after 10pm so, weather permitting, we have an excellent chance to view / image the comet which should be around mag 5.
We have a limit of 6 spaces due to space limitations and Chris’s biscuit budget, so it will be first come, first served. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in attending.
We will be looking to image the comet so if anyone would like to do this we are happy to offer advice.
We would be looking to start the event from 6.30pm, with a go / no-go announcement around 4pm. Chris’s house is not far from Leeds Castle and approximately an hour’s drive from SE London.
