We have decided to CANCEL tonight’s planned Blackheath stargazing session.
Though there are some clear patches of sky, it seems highly likely that there will be showers (some heavy) during the course of the evening. As the ground underfoot is also likely to be saturated given the recent rain, we do not want to risk being caught in an exposed area with the likelihood of further rain. The wind is still quite strong and we would not get much warning of any approaching rain, so would have little, if any, time to get telescopes under cover.
We will keep an eye on the weather forecast and may call a short-notice viewing event in the next few days should conditions improve.
