THIS EVENT IS CONFIRMED ON
We will be holding a special Christmas Blackheath observing session on Friday 11th December from 7.30pm. The location for this event will be Blackheath.
We will be serving MINCE PIES and MULLED WINE!!!
From about 7.30pm Uranus and Neptune will be visible offering a chance to see these faint green and blue worlds high in the sky.
As we move on through the night, M44, The Pleiades, takes centre stage followed by our first opportunity to see the constellation of Orion as it rises from about 9.30pm. At its heart is the superb Orion Nebula, M42. This plus many more objects will offer visitors much to see and enjoy.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. Bring a scope if you can, if not just turn up for a look. There will be other scopes available.
Blackheath is quite exposed, so please remember to wrap up warm.
The plan is to meet on Blackheath, just north of Talbot Place at 7.30pm. Talbot Place is a right turn off Goffers Road as you head towards Shooters Hill Road or the first left after the Tea Hut. Talbot Place is a cul-de-sac, where free parking is available from 6.30pm. A map of the site can be found here – http://www.flamsteed.org.uk/observing/stargazing-events/blackheath-stargazing/ .
