THIS EVENT IS CONFIRMED ON
In partnership with a group of other London-based astronomers, organised by Eric Emms (@emmsstargaze), the Flamsteed will be joining an event on Blackheath to observe and/or image the Moon just before First Quarter. This promises to be a very enjoyable event, meeting other London-based amateur astronomers and hopefully (weather permitting!) doing some practical observing and imaging.
In the event of cloudy conditions, we will still go ahead with the event. If it rains (or snows!) we will probably relocate to a local hostelry!
If you are unable to bring along your own telescope or binoculars, don’t worry, there will be plenty on hand to show you the sights.
Blackheath is quite exposed, so please remember to wrap up warm.
The plan is to meet on Blackheath, just north of Talbot Place from 5pm. Talbot Place is a right turn off Goffers Road as you head towards Shooters Hill Road or the first left after the Tea Hut. Talbot Place is a cul-de-sac, where free parking is available from 6.30pm. Parking meters are available on Goffers Road if you are coming early by car. A map of the site can be found here – http://www.flamsteed.org.uk/observing/stargazing-events/blackheath-stargazing/ .
